Last night we got into Barcelona about midnight and had to go down to get our rented Renalt Traffic (Huge alien Van). This is about 1:00 in the morining now. We are very tired and want to get to our Piso (apartment). The van is stick shift and the first night here my dad has already stalled it several times. I hope we don't get in an accident, but I have a feeling it's bound to happen once this trip.. Oh, before Barcelona, we 1st had a layover in London for a couple hours which basically we just sat in the airport and people watched. There are a lot of mullets, tight pants and EDWARDS!!! LOL - every guy in London looked like Edward from Twilight- one especially. We were walking down the terminal and there he was- Brittney and I looked at eachother and I said do you know who that looked like? And we both said at the same time- EDWARD! It was crazy! Cute Edwards in England. Anyways... Next...
OK- Day 1 (Sunday) We get up early only a few hours later now to get ready for church. (remember- the time difference is all off and we have major jet lag now... I'm typing this blog right now and it's 4:30 pm and you guys are just waking up at home 7:30 am - we are about to eat dinner at a member's ward) We brought the wrong converter for our plugs and guess what happens- I turn on the blow dryer and it went sooo fast and made this high pitched scream then POOF! It blew out- woops! So, we all went to church with wet hair! Curly, natural, disgusting nappy hair! My mom was the most embaressed...We look like wet ratty dogs.
K- driving here is crazy! Everywhere you go is one way streets and everyone is fast. There is only tiny cars and vespas (little motos) that zip by you every second. Everyone parks on the sidewalks or even in the middle of intersections and you just have to go around them. We also here really loud bangs that sound like gun shots but Jason said it's the vespas and motorcycles back firing! It makes us jump every time- I walways think we are getting shot at it's so loud!
This is Brittney and I showing off the menu of the little restaraunt we ate at before church this morning. We ate grilled cheese sandwhiches (In Espana= bikini), it was the only thing that looked decent. It wasn't very good- no flavor at all. Everything is very bland here. We will probably loose some weight here cuz there is not much to eat- Yey for us! lol
This is us waiting outside the restaraunt because we got sick of the smell inside. Everyone smokes where ever. All of Spain so far is just rows and rows of apartment buildings (tall ones) and very narrow streets. Then we went to church and met some members Jason taught- We tried speaking Spainish back to them but they just laugh and talk fast and we don't know what they're saying. All the women kiss us too on each cheek when they greet us. We would not get around too well if we didn't have Jason here to translate- No one speaks English, everything is in Euros (Money) and it's just crazy so far. But fun.
This is our room in the piso- very nice, modern apartment. It looks scary and ghetto on the outside, but really nice inside.


This was random- A weird parade for who knows why walking across the street in front of the church. The church was just like the apartment- in one of the high rise buildings across the street here. Weird huh
The toilets here are a little different. You can'treally tell in this picture but they are square bowls and they flush from the top. At the airport in Barcelona, I thought the flush was the trash can next to me. I kept pushing the button with my foot and nothing would happen. Duh- it was a little button on top of the toilet. I'm stupid.
