Alpine Cabin...Please don't burn down...

The view from the front porch looking at Luna Lake

 Our Cabin

(The Wallow Fire-just looking Southwest from Alpine)

My heart has been aching the last couple days and I've been on pins and needles watching the news every hour to get an update to see if our beautiful cabin has vanished.   Last Sunday, May 29, 2011, a forest wildfire started south of Hannagan's Meadow from a campground over the Memorial Day weekend.  Just in the past 2 days At 165 square miles, or 120,600 acres, the Wallow fire has now become the fourth-largest wildfire in state history!  It is now bigger than the Rodeo-Chediski fire back in 2002.  It's just devastating to see that gorgeous land we grew up spending our summers and winters be gone in days.  The town of Alpine is now being hit by the fire.  Everyone has been evacuated from the town as of last night.  So far it's only burned a couple trailers, but it's right there.  Soon, I bet, the Candy Store will be gone, our cabins, everything...  It breaks my heart.  My Grandpa Evans built his cabin when I was just a newborn.   My parent's even took me there as a baby.  There are so many memories there.  I'm just so sad...
